ISPM 15 Standard Fumigation Service

ISPM 15 requires that all solid wood packaging material used in international trade be treated and marked to show that it has been treated according to an approved method, such as fumigation. The fumigation process involves exposing the solid wood packaging to a controlled concentration of a fumigant, such as methyl bromide, to kill pests that may be present in the material. The treated contents and container are then given a fumigation certificate.
The fumigator treats the cargo according to the appropriate fumigation regulations based on its destination and if it contains wood packaging material (WPM).

Once the treatment is completed, the solid wood packaging is stamped or marked with a unique identifier that shows that it has been treated according to ISPM 15 standards. This helps ensure that the solid wood packaging material is free from pests, reducing the risk of introducing new pests and diseases into new countries

It's important to note that fumigation is only one method of meeting the requirements of ISPM 15, and there are other approved methods such as heat treatment and modified atmosphere packaging. The specific method used will depend on the type of pest, the type of wood, and the country of origin and destination
